Mysterious death of bees care beekeepers in the region Marilia

Tela capture 2015-07-22 at 20.15.27Honey producers in the Marília region are concerned about the death of bees perceived since the beginning of the year, which has already affected dozens of beekeepers.. According to Amar (Association of Beekeepers of Marília and Region) the problem appears in approx. 20% that 108 properties that are part of the entity. The fear is that the mortality will spread and end up decimating local production, that revolves around 50 tons per year.

According to the organization's president, Fernando Mauro Lopes Ferreira only one of the associated producers lost more than 600 beehives in recent days. In this case, the loss exceeds BRL 200 one thousand. “In our region, the problem started to appear at the beginning of the year.. On that occasion I visited three producers and verified hundreds of thousands of dead bees. in the last few weeks, we notice new cases”, says.

similar occurrences, says the beekeeper, have already been identified in other parts of Brazil and the world, as in the USA and Europe and the suspicion is that the cause of death is the use of certain types of pesticides. “We were instructed to collect these animals to send them for analysis and we are pursuing this. But at first everything indicates that they are being poisoned.”, says.

Ferreira's thesis is that bees have contact with pesticides while collecting pollen from flowers and end up poisoning the entire hive.. Then, if nothing is done quickly, the honey remains inside the crates where it is produced and continues to attract other insects that carry the poison to other production units. “It’s a pretty worrying chain reaction.. Bees fly within a radius of up to four kilometers.”, alert.
