Legislation for Organic Production
laws, that regulates the lei 10.831 from 23 December 2003 includes production, the storage, the labeling, the transport, the certification, the marketing and inspection of products. In 27 December 2007 the Brazilian government regulated through the Federal Official Gazette (DOU) the new criteria for the functioning of the entire organic production system, from the rural property to the point of sale.
The rules are expressed in the Decree no. 6323.
The decree also creates the Brazilian Organic Conformity Assessment System, consists of the Ministry of Agriculture, State inspection bodies and organic conformity assessment bodies.
